Individuals and companies giving larger donations (typically £10,000 or more) can establish their own Named Fund at Sussex Community Foundation. This can be tailored to support the causes that are particularly important to you.
A Fund provides all the benefits of having a charitable trust, but removes the burden of appointing trustees, handling investments and dealing with correspondence.
Sussex Community Foundation will do all the administration of the fund on your behalf, and give grants to local charities and community groups in line with your priorities.
You can get involved as much or as little as you wish in deciding where the money goes. For example some companies establish employee grant making panels.
There are two types of Named Fund; an Endowment Fund where the donation is invested to provide an annual income, or a Flow-Through Fund where the donation is given out within a set time period.
Named Fund Holders receive invitations to Foundation events and are given the opportunity to visit the charities they have supported.
You can also build up a Named Fund over a period of time by putting regular smaller donations into an Acorn Fund.
If you are thinking of setting up a fund, please call Kevin Richmond or Janet Ormerod on 01273 409440 or contact us.
