Southern Water is hosting the Super Irish Race day at Fontwell Park racecourse, near Arundel on Saturday 2 October 2010.
Crawathlon
Participants from the 2009 event meet representatives from the charities supported
The inaugural ‘Crawathlon’ took place at the Virgin Active Healthclub in Crawley in 2008 and is now becoming a regular fixture.
This team tri-athlon involves major professional advisor companies based in Crawley & Gatwick competing against each other and raising funds for local charities.
A total of over £8,000 was raised in 2008 for Sussex Community Foundation to distribute to local charities with an emphasis on supporting smaller community groups. Winning team were the Tryathletes from Thomas Eggar and top fundraising team was Fortis Bank.
In 2009 the event expanded considerably with 16 teams participating, and moved to a new venue at K2. Winners for the second year running were the team from Thomas Eggar, but Stevens-Bolton took away the fundraising trophy.
Local charities receiving a share of the proceeds included Olive Tree Cancer Support, Crawley and East Grinstead Parkinson’s Disease Society, Outreach 3 Way and Crawley Open House.
Teams taking part in 2009 were Santander, ASB Law, Deloitte, Thomas Eggar, Grant Thornton, Rawlinson Butler, KPMG, PwC, Baker Tilly, BDO Stoy Hayward, Mazars, Stevens & Bolton, Cripps Harries Hall, DMH Stallard, Clydesdale Bank, Lloyds TSB.
Sarah Beauvallet, Relationship Director, Santander, South East Corporate Banking Centre, said: “The idea of the event started when it struck me that local corporate professionals would welcome the opportunity to raise money for local charities, keep fit in the lead up to Christmas and have a pre-Christmas opportunity to network.
