Crime writer Peter James shared some of his crime secrets at the launch of the new Governments ‘Grassroots Endowment Challenge’ at Karma, Brighton Marina on 26th November 2008.
The author, who has written a series of books based on Brighton characters and locations, gave insights into his work as he was interviewed by celebrity journalist Peter Guttridge. He was joined by David Gaylor, the real life Brighton detective his lead character Roy Grace is based on.
The Endowment Challenge will match pound for pound all donations to an endowment fund in Brighton & Hove up to a maximum of £250,000. This fund will be used as a long term resource to provide grants for local groups meeting local needs.
The money is part if £130 million nationwide drive announced by the government to support thousands of grassroots groups across the country, working to improve their local communities.
Sussex Community Foundation Chief Executive, Kevin Richmond said, “There has never been a better and more cost effective way to give in Brighton & Hove, and to see the impact of that giving more than double because of the government help. I invite individuals and businesses who want to give something back to the City to come together and help create this lasting fund”.
