Types of Named Fund
Whichever type of fund you choose, the service will be designed to meet your wishes and interests. You can contribute to a fund in cash, cheques or shares. All of these can carry significant tax benefits. Pledges of future donations, for example legacies or property are very welcome.
Sussex Community Foundation offers three types of Named Fund:
- An Immediate Impact Fund
- An Community Investment Fund
- A Combination Fund
Immediate Impact Fund (minimum £10,000)
An Immediate Impact Fund distributes the total value of the donation in accordance with the donor’s wishes to meet immediate needs in the community. The fund can be distributed in one year or over a number of years. The value of the fund can be added to at any time.
Donors can choose the criteria for the fund and be involved in grant making if they wish. A simple tailored agreement is negotiated setting out the terms and conditions of the Fund, including an agreed management fee.
Grants can be given in the name of the donor. The minimum donation is £10,000 a year.
Community Investment Fund (minimum £25,000)
A Community Investment Fund is a permanent capital fund, which is invested. The income generated is used year after year to make grants in accordance with the benefactor’s wishes and interests.
An Investment Fund can be a one-off donation or may be built up over a number of years but its value remains for the benefit of communities forever.
Grants can be given in the name of the donor. The minimum donation is £25,000.
Combination Fund
Some benefactors wish to build up an Investment Fund while also seeing the Immediate Impact of their donation. A Combination Fund allows you to spread your donation between investment and immediate giving.
